Our Programme for 2019 - 2020
Our meetings are held on the first Thursday of the month and start at 7.30pm and are held in Smeatharpe Village Hall, Smeatharpe, EX14 9RF.

There are a couple of exceptions: our February meeting is a coffee morning and held in one of our members homes and the January and August meetings are on the second Thursday of the month.

5 September 'Take Better Photographs' A not-too-technical talk on what to think about behind a camera to take a better shot. Competition: Bring a baby photo of yourself and we'll have a Guess Who? quiz. 3 October 'Let's Talk Rubbish' We will hear from Recycle Devon about recycling and what actually happens to our rubbish. Competition: Make an item out of recycled materials. 7 November Joyce Grenfell The Life and Works of Joyce Grenfell --Readings from Joyce Grenfell with stories about her. Competition: Write a limerick. 5 December 'Mamma Mia Here We Go Again' Singalong With hotdogs and icecreams in the interval, Christmas raffle and festive fun. Inhibitions to be left at the door. Bring a friend. Note that the venue for this evening will be Churchinford village hall. 9 January 2020 Bees A talk on bees by a Master Beekeeper. Competition: A handcrafted flower in any medium. 6 February 10.30am Coffee Morning Venue to be arranged. 5 March Flower arranging demonstration The demonstrator has created arrangements for Chelsea Flower Show and No. 10 Downing Street. Competition: A flower arrangement in an eggcup. 2 April AGM 7 May Met Office The work of the Met Office, weather and climate change. The speaker was a BBC weather presenter for many years and is now Met Office advisor for Civil Contingencies. Competition: A photograph of interesting weather. |
